a couple of days ago i rang penn models to ask if they had a model kit i was interested in and they said no, but they could order it and it would be here on friday. that was tuesday by wednesday it had arrived with all the options i required. i am not a beginner and bought a scale model. got all my spares to complete it and got a good deal. i think they did ok for me any moans i have i will tell them to there face and not hide behind a computer screen so give them a break
There is a lot of bad feed back on hear about penn models and i would just like to say u r all full of s~~t this shop is fantastick the boss is funny helpfull and makes a good cup of tea i am in there most night whether i spend money or not and is allways made to feel welcome by all the staff to
Perhaps the moaners about Penn should look at "there" spelling, the incompetence shows, so maybe they are the problem and not so much penn. I have used Penn for some 30 yrs and you wont get better service anywhere, however if you purchase elswhere then get problems then go to Penn to get them to sort it out you get what you deserve.
I have to agree with the majority of negative reviews already mentioned below. Penn Models does not deserve the revenue spent inside its shop. The owner is arrogant and rude, not to mention completely ignorant when it comes to giving advise on aeromodelling. Likewise his staff are a bunch of half wits. I have seen the owner try and sell an aerobatic low wing fixed wing model to a first time flyer who clearly stated he was looking for a "trainer" model. It is clear he lacks any kind of respect for the good will or support given to him by local model enthusiasts who choose to visit and spend their money inside his shop. Trust me, you are better off being ignored by the staff, (which happens most of the time), rather than getting their appalling and misleading advise. Their only interest is clearing stock and taking peoples money. When will the owner learn, this is an enthusiasts/buyers market. It is also a nationwide/global market. People will easily source items elsewhere from model shops who's staff are keen to help, knowledgeable, and will give advise in the best interests of the customer; Basically everything Penn Models is NOT. Maybe if this basic message gets back to Ian at Penn Models he will choose to consider his approach to customer services before its too late for his business. I wouldn't hold my breath though!!! Anyone reading this and other similar reviews, shop elsewhere.
I told Pen Models that I was a begginer and they sold me a parkzone spitfire which I have now crashed but luckily only daaged th proppeler and spinner. I used this shop as a person told me this place was the best around and was not very expensive either. I shall go back to Penn Models to get the parts I shall require, however when I was looking the staf just tgalked to each other and in the end I asked a customer in the shop what planes are best for a begginner and the staff cme then and said the spifire was best suited.
they will only sell you what they want to sell you by slaging other brands off if you ask for a ???they will say what do you want that rubbish for, only because they dont stock it, if your a beginer you have no chance, go some were else there idiots.support your local model shop id rather mail order its still cheaper plus you dont have to wait 40 mins to get served
Penn models must be the worst model show in the country. They are so unhelpfull and arogent and as for the idiot who owns it, he is a complete and utter waist of space so its no wonder the staff are the same. Ive been in there for stuff in the past and ive been just left standing around so in the end ive walked out and if you go in there and ask them about somthing the do not want to know and if on the odd time they do give you some advice its more than likley to be wrong. If its helicopter or plane parts you are after then you are better off going to stuarts models in corngreaves road in cradley heath or the new model shop that has just opened in brierley hill that is oposite bodycraft and not far from brierley hill fire station, and they have an indoor track as well. The sooner penn models go out of business the better. All modelers should boycott them and shop at the other places i have listed in this post as they are helpfull and give first class advice and it will help to put penn out of business A.S.A.P.
These guys are the biggest waste of space ever, its incredible that they havent been shut down yet. I remember the first time i went in there with a Tamiya buggy, one of the screws had become undone but i was just a kid terrified that i'd wrecked my birthday present. They charged me £30 to fix it. Later i learnt all they had done was tightened 1 screw. It doesn't stop there, most of the staff bar a kind few are very rude & arrogant, & are only interested in taking your money. I went to have my motor skimmed the but it was wrecked (i pretty much knew that but i was hoping they could do something for it) and they started trying to sell me a new motor by telling me they would have charged me £20 for a skim, i know they charge not much over a fiver. The time before that i went in & returned a week later for my motor & the manager said he'd just go & get it, he left me standing there for 40 minutes because he hadnt skimmed it in the first place, i could hear the lathe. AVOID
after going into penn models for paint, i was stood around waiting for atleast 10 minutes while 2 members of staff were stood talking to eachother, completely ignoring me. i asked advice on other paint to use and they were rude and arogant towards me. i told them to forget it and went to springhill models on the penn road for friendly and immidiate service!. steer clear of penn models!!!!!!!!!!!! Arogant and rude staff!!!
Crap. only interested in your money. will try and unload stock on you thats not selling and completly unhelpfull unless you've just spent at least another hundred plus quid in there, ordered parts for my truck 8 months ago and i'm still waiting. try wheel spin models or the midland model center
